About Us

Elder Street Truck Food is the new chapter of a hospitality career spanning over 3 decades for Anna & Gregg Thorne.

A career that culminated in a hugely successful 14 year tenure of Elder Street Cafe & Deli at Debden Barns just outside the picturesque market town of Saffron Walden.

In 2026 we decided to take ‘the show on the road’ and bring a taste of Elder Street to make your special occasions memorable!

Elder Street has a cult following built on its reputation for innovative dishes created from locally sourced fresh ingredients and customer focused service.

Our dishes are heavily influenced by our travels to foreign shores, demonstrating our own take on iconic international street food.

Events

Elder Street Truck Food is available for pop ups, private events, weddings, parties, sporting events and outdoor cinema screenings.

Our core offering is 'Proper Dogs' however we also offer a selection of exclusive menus for private events.

Once you have selected the theme of your choice we provide a comprehensive list of dishes to select from for the event, our team will always be on hand to guide and advise you.

For the full Elder Street experience we can also offer an eclectic range of wines, cocktails and local ice cream from our bespoke wine window.

'Buchetta del Vino'

During a tour of Italy we discovered many of Florence’s restaurants have a small wine window or ‘buchetta del vino’.

Tiny, historic hatches in building walls used by noble families to sell wine directly to the public and later serving as contactless service points during plagues.

Today, many have reopened following the Covid 19 pandemic, offering glasses of wine, cocktails, and sometimes gelato, creating a unique historical experience in the city's streets.

Our truck has one! Offering a selection of beer, wine and cocktails themed to each menu.

Just ring the bell, the hatch opens, order your drinks and pay by card at the window.

We always use glassware for private events not disposable.

Please note the drinks/window is optional - not compulsory.
